Dr. Robert (Robb) Johnson
A Fort Collins native, Dr. Robert Johnson earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine from Colorado
State University, and his Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon, where he graduated with honors.
Dr. Johnson completed clinical externships at the Teplick LASIK center of Portland Oregon, The Pediatric and
Strabismus Referral Center in Portland, and a Vision Therapy rotation in Portland. He has also received the
Practice Management award from Marchon eyewear, and the award for Outstanding Thesis Research Project
Design. Dr. Johnson was published in the Journal of the American Optometric Association in August 2004.
An avid outdoorsman, Dr. Johnson enjoys fly-fishing, camping, hunting, skiing and simply being in the outdoors
with his family. Other interests include movie watching, soccer playing, and book reading. Dr. Johnson
volunteers in the community with the Boy Scouts in Pack 483. He resides in his hometown of Fort Collins with
his wife, Amy, and their four children.
Kathy joined us here at Brighter Future Vision Clinic in February 2012. Originally from Michigan, where she
worked in the customer service/sales industry for over 14 years. Kathy decided it was time for a change and
moved to beautiful Colorado in April 2011. As our Office Manager, you will find Kathy at the front desk, greeting
and talking with patients, scheduling appointments, and helping out with many other various tasks around the
office. She helps keep our office running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. During Kathy’s free time, she
enjoys being outdoors bike riding, hiking in the mountains, and going for long walks with her husband, John. She
also loves to travel and work on various crafts, such as crocheting and sewing.
Nicole Jensen MPH, COVT
Nicole earned a BA in Sociology from the University of Wyoming before returning to her hometown of Fort
Collins to complete her Master's in Public Health with a concentration in health communication from the
Colorado School of Public Health at CSU. Nicole's education has emphasized the importance of helping people
lead healthy lives and giving people the opportunity to thrive. She believes Vision Therapy helps people of all
ages, and especially children, create a foundation for healthier and happier lives. Nicole enjoys spending her
free time with her husband and their beagle, re-reading Harry Potter, and cultivating her bobblehead collection,
which is on display in the therapy room!
Kevin Colopy COVT
Kevin started his career as a vision therapist in 2003, earned his certification as an Optometric Vision Therapist
in 2008 and continues to be one of the most requested Vision Therapists in Northern Colorado. Prior to Vision
Therapy, Kevin's education in Fine Arts provided him a variety of applicable work experiences including High
School Art Teacher, publishing a Christian magazine, and working with developmentally disabled adults. In
Kevin's spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Kelly and their daughter, Chloe, as well as fellowship
with friends. He also enjoys reading, painting, and making things, as well as growing stuff in their family garden.
Vision Therapy Coordinator
Kelly's background is in administration and education with a B.A. in Fine Arts. She taught high school art in
Texas before relocating to Fort Collins in 2002. After being a vision therapy patient herself, and seeing what
tremendous results she gained from that experience, Kelly joined on with Brighter Future Vision Clinic and has
been here ever since. Her position as Vision Therapy Coordinator involves testing patients, consulting and
coordinating administrative tasks and communications between referring doctors and Brighter Future Vision
Clinic. Kelly loves spending time with her husband and daughter, enjoying the wonderful climate, beautiful
scenery and all of the opportunities Colorado has to offer.
Optician - Optical Manager
Mark graduated from CSU in 2006 with a degree in Speech Communications. Before joining our staff in 2013,
Mark gained over a decade of experience in retail, direct and indirect sales, and customer service. He
experienced the benefits of Vision Therapy as a child, and he has worn glasses since 10 and contacts since 16.
He also serves as our Spanish translator, after having studied in High School and College, and from his time
Mark, his wife Leslie, and 2 of their 3 sons were born here in Ft Collins. As a young man he lived briefly in the
Dominican Republic. After marriage, Mark and Leslie spent 2 years in Durango, Colorado where their oldest son
was born. Other than that, Fort Collins has been home.
Mark and his family enjoy music and movies, and especially love reading good books.
Amy’s background has been primarily financial, working for several years as a tax accountant for Marriott
International and later as an accounts manager for local health care facilities. Her true passion, however, is in
serving those around her, which led her to graduate from CSU with her degree in Social Work. She finds that the
combination of the two fields gives her a variety of valuable work and life experiences. She currently works
primarily from home, managing all the financial aspects of the business and making sure the office stays up and
When not working from home, she is working in the home, trying to keep up with four children and all their
activities. When there is any spare time, she loves spending it doing her family genealogy and volunteering in
her kids’ activities.
Dr. Joshua Brooks,
Dr. Joshua Brooks became interested in optometry when he received his first pair of glasses in second grade.
He worked for several years as an optician while earning his undergraduate degree in biology at Utah Valley
University, then earned his Doctor of Optometry degree at Midwestern University in Arizona. Dr. Brooks
completed externships emphasizing in vision therapy, contact lens fitting, and ocular disease. His favorite
externship was working for three months at Brighter Future Vision Clinic before returning to work here nearly a
year later. He is especially interested in vision therapy and the treatment of ocular disease such as pink eye,
glaucoma, and dry eyes. Dr. Brooks currently lives in Fort Collins with his wife, Shawna, and their two
daughters. He enjoys reading as well as playing video games and board games. He also loves outdoor activities
such as camping, skiing, and white-water rafting.
A Montana native, Ashleigh graduated with a degree in medical assisting in May 2017. She has previous
experience working in family practice and Optometry, but it is her passion for children and helping others that
drew her to Brighter Future Vision Clinic. In her free time, Ashleigh loves spending time with her husband and
two stepdaughters, as well as their variety of rescue animals; especially her cat, Potato. Ashleigh also loves to
travel, play video games with her family and explore the outdoors.
While not a native Coloradoan, Matthew certainly wishes he was. Originally from Minnesota (cold!) he moved to
Illinois (also cold!) then Arizona (hot!). He enjoys the normal seasons of Colorado. Having spent many years in
the customer service field, he likes the fun and friendly atmosphere here at the clinic. When not working, he
enjoys movies, gaming and spending time with his wife Renee and his children Zachary and Abigail.
After graduating from Fort Collins High School, Aaron decided join the BFVC family part-time as our accounting
clerk. His natural abilities in math and accounting, plus an attention to detail, have made him a huge asset in
keeping things on track and organized up front.
In his spare time, he loves video-games, skiing, reading, and traveling. He is an eagle scout and champion shot
put and discus thrower.
Gary has the unique experience of first being a patient under Dr. Johnson having received the benefits of
Vision Therapy in his youth. He joins the team with a firsthand background knowledge that he now provides
for his patients today. Gary went on a two-year mission for his church where he spoke the Spanish language.
Speaking the Spanish language has also been a benefit to him in his career. Gary enjoys sports and has
excelled in soccer in his youth. He comes from a close-knit family who focused on spending time together.
Gary has been to almost every state in the country and has traveled to Mexico and Canada.
